PosyCam

Privacy policy

Last updated 5 November 2026. This policy covers the PosyCam app for iPhone and Android and this website.

Who we are

PosyCam is made by PosyCam (“we”). If you have a question about this policy or your data, email support@posycam.io.

Your photos stay on your phone

Everything you capture is stored inside the app on your phone: the original photo, the edited version, your edit settings and thumbnails. By default PosyCam also saves a copy to your photo library. A photo leaves the app only when you save it to your photo library or share it yourself.

We do not run servers that receive your photos, and the app does not upload photos, camera frames or edits anywhere.

Pose and scene detection

To coach you, PosyCam looks at the live camera image on your phone to find people, faces, body pose and the shape of the scene. This happens on the device with models bundled in the app. The results are used live and then discarded: they are not saved with your photos and are not sent to us or anyone else. PosyCam does not identify who anyone is.

Permissions

PermissionWhy
CameraTo show the preview and take photos.
Photos, add only (iPhone)To save your photos to your library. PosyCam cannot read your existing library.
Motion (iPhone)For the level that keeps horizons straight.
NotificationsOnly if you turn on Announcements.
InternetFor the purchase check and the optional services below. Capture, coaching, editing and export work offline.

PosyCam does not request the microphone, your location, your contacts or permission to track you across other apps.

Services that receive data

PosyCam has no account and no analytics or advertising tools. These are the only services that receive data from the app, and none of them receive your photos.

Apple App Store and RevenueCat (iPhone purchases)

PosyCam Pro is a one-time purchase through the App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your payment details. To confirm and restore Pro, the iPhone app contacts RevenueCat when it opens and when it returns to the screen. This happens for every iPhone user, including those who have not bought Pro. RevenueCat receives a random identifier it creates for the app (not your name or Apple ID), your App Store purchase information, and basic technical details such as app version, device model, operating system and the IP address of the connection.

Firebase Crashlytics (crash reports, off by default)

If you turn on Share crash reports in Settings → Saving & privacy, a report is sent to Google's Firebase Crashlytics when the app crashes. A report contains technical details of the crash (such as where in the code it happened), the app version, device model, operating system version, device state such as temperature level, and an installation identifier. It never contains a photo. Turning the switch off stops reporting and deletes reports not yet sent. Google states that it keeps Crashlytics crash data for 90 days.

Firebase Cloud Messaging (announcements, off by default)

If you turn on Announcements, the app registers with Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can send occasional news about PosyCam. This uses a push token and a Firebase installation identifier (on iPhone, Apple's push service is also involved). Everyone who opts in receives the same messages; we do not build a profile of you. Turning the switch off unsubscribes you and deletes the token.

Google MediaPipe usage statistics (Android only)

On Android, PosyCam uses Google's MediaPipe library for on-device detection. Before it starts, the app asks your permission, because the library sends usage statistics to Google: the app's identifier and version, which detectors were started and how long they took to start, device maker and model, operating system build, language and country settings, mobile network code and network type. It never sends images, camera frames or detection results. If you decline, the detectors do not start; the camera, editing, export and coaching that does not need them keep working. See Google's privacy policy. The iPhone app does not send these statistics.

What we don't do

How long data is kept

Data on your phone stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. Data held by RevenueCat and Google is kept according to their own policies, linked above. We use their dashboards only to confirm purchases, fix crashes and send announcements.

Your choices and rights

RevenueCat and Google may process data in the United States and other countries.

Children

PosyCam is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

This website

posycam.io is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may log visitors' IP addresses for security, as described in GitHub's privacy statement. The site uses no cookies and no analytics. It loads its typeface from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the font is requested.

Changes to this policy

If we change how PosyCam handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect in the app.
